Navigating Water Damage Restoration: What to Expect
Experiencing water damage in your home can be an incredibly overwhelming and traumatic event. At Red Truck Disaster Response, we see the immense stress and anxiety that homeowners face when feeling during this challenging time. And we want you to know that we are here to guide you through every step of the restoration process. This blog post aims to walk you through what to expect during the mitigation and repair phases of water damage restoration, ensuring that you are well informed and prepared for the journey ahead.
The Mitigation Process
Authorization
Before we can begin work on your property, we will need you to sign an Emergency Work Authorization. This important document allows us to start the mitigation process immediately, ensuring that we can address the water damage as quickly as possible to minimize further issues.
Creating a Drying Plan
Our highly trained technicians will conduct a thorough assessment of the damage that has occurred in your home. Before starting work, we will review our mitigation plan and answer any questions you may have. We want you to understand what we are doing and why to effectively mitigate the damage. We will document all of our activities, including drying progress, for your records as well as for your insurance carrier.
Drying
Once the assessment is complete, we will place floor protection in areas to and from the work areas and set up specialized drying equipment. This equipment is crucial for effectively removing moisture from your home, so it is important to keep it running continuously, even if the noise it generates is a bit disruptive. Our team will ensure that the equipment is positioned correctly to maximize its effectiveness.
Monitoring
Throughout the drying process, we check the equipment frequently and take moisture readings to track our drying progress. This monitoring is crucial, as it allows us to determine how well the drying is proceeding and whether any adjustments to the equipment placement are necessary as water migrates to different areas.
Insurance Adjuster Inspection
As part of the restoration process, your insurance carrier may send an adjuster to inspect the damage to your property. We can meet with them if needed, providing documentation and information to facilitate their assessment.
Completion of Drying
Once we have confirmed that everything is completely dry, we will carefully remove our equipment from your home. This step is crucial, as it signifies the end of the mitigation phase and prepares your property for the next steps in the restoration process.
Payment
After the drying process is complete, we will submit an estimate to your insurance adjuster for their review. Once the estimate is approved, you will receive an invoice for the agreed amount, ensuring that all financial aspects are handled transparently and efficiently.
The Repair Process
Repair Estimate
Our experienced team will create detailed repair and content estimates for your insurance carrier’s review. This documentation will outline the necessary repairs and associated costs, providing a clear picture of what needs to be done.
Estimate Review with your Adjuster
Once the estimates are prepared, we will review the reported plan with you and submit them to your insurance adjuster for approval. Our goal is to ensure that you receive the coverage you deserve for the repairs required.
Repair Authorization and Down Payment
Once an agreement is reached, we will send you a Repair Authorization to sign. This document will include the agreed amount for the repairs and any required down payment, allowing us to proceed with the work.
Material Selection and Scheduling
Our dedicated Project Manager will work closely with you to discuss scheduling, material selections, and any desired change orders. This collaborative approach ensures that your preferences are considered throughout the repair process.
Change Orders
If you wish to make upgrades or changes that fall outside of the insurance-approved repairs, we will create change orders for your approval. This flexibility allows you to customize the repairs to better suit your needs and preferences.
Completion of Mitigation & Repair Services
Once all agreements are in place, we will complete the necessary and agreed-upon repairs. After the repairs, we will inspect the work with you to ensure your satisfaction.
Final Payment
After the completion of all repairs, we will send a Certificate of Completion to your insurance carrier and request any remaining payments. This final step ensures that all financial obligations are settled and that your home is restored to its pre-damage condition.
